China: Sichuan Earthquake Kills 69 000 People
On this day in 2008, a massive 8.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Sichuan province of China killing some 69 000 people.

20 000 People Killed by an Earthquake in the Kangra Valley, India
On this day in 1905, 20 000 people were killed in an earthquake (7.8) that struck the Kangra Valley in Himachal Pradesh state, India. Mosts buildings in Kangra, Mcleodganj and Dharamshala were destroyed.

New Zealand: Christchurch – Major Earthquake Kills 185 People
On this day in 2011, the second in a series of major earthquakes strikes Christchurch in New Zealand. 185 people were killed in the 6.3 quake and the historic city of Christchurch was changed forever. On the first anniversary of the earthquake the city of Christchurch is still coming to terms with what the future now holds for the devastated city.

China: Shaanxi Earthquake
On this day in 1556, one of the deadliest earthquakes in history struck Shaanxi in China. The Shaanxi Earthquake of 1556 killed some 830 000 people. Almost 60% of the population was killed in some areas affected by the quake.
